An excellent showing by rookie Joel Miller on his Star Mazda qualifying debut earned him pole position for the first race of the season at Sebring, Florida. Carrying on from his hot pace in testing, the 19 year-old from Hesperia, California never looked back after taking provisional pole on his first run during the 22 minute session.

After a brief red flag stoppage, Miller went on to extend his advantage to over 1 second on his final flying lap ahead of Charles Hall, and to take pole the 1 point that goes with it.

Friday's race is the first in Star Mazda history to feature standing starts, and the lights turn green at 14:50 EST (18:50 GMT) with live timing is available from the IMSA Racing website.
