Round 2 of the 2008 Star Mazda presented by Goodyear Championship took place at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah, with MAZDASPEED young development driver Joel Miller starting from the front row. The race was not without incident as the lights went green, the field ran into turn one, there was a multiple car incident which brought out the yellow flag.
Miller slotted in behind leader Edwards ready for the restart, and after the green flag waved, Miller ran around the outside of Edwards and both cars touched, which caused Miller to run wide and lose several places, dropping him to 9th position.
More drama was to affect Miller during his fight through the field, as the temperature spike on the onboard dash illuminated, causing Miller to seek advice for the JDC team and was told to go for it, where he fought through the pack and finished on the podium in 3rd place.
Special thanks must go to JDC Motorsport's tireless work this weekend after Joel suffered two suspension failure's and also an engine change due to loss of engine power.
Joel would also like to thank his sponsors Mazda, K&N Filters, Sparco, Mockett, Dream Cars, Classic Stone, Oakley, Sportsdrink+, for all their support.
